Why a baby bottle?
When we introduced the Thinkbaby over 7 years ago 95% of the baby bottles on the market were made of polycarbonate which contains BPA. Initially, we attempted to convince the major companies to move off of polycarbonate, but after being unsuccessful we launched Thinkbaby and Thinksport to address the concern of chemicals leaching from consumer products. We started with the baby bottle because polycarbonate was ubiquitous across the industry. As little ones systems are still in a state of development they have very little defense against foreign chemicals.

While many companies have emerged to offer BPA Free baby bottles, many bottles not only still contain BPA despite saying BPA Free (see Health Canada study), but many companies have also landed on untested materials just because the material claims to be free of BPA. Thinkbaby utilizes the precautionary principle in the creation of all of our products. We dont jump to new materials without doing the requisite testing to ensure that we havent landed on another BPA-like material. When we target a product segment that concerns us, we ask the question, How can we make the product line Safe. Functional. Sustainable. Thinkbaby and Thinksports focus has led us to be the first company to span safe consumer products ranging from baby to adults.

How is the Thinkbaby bottle different?
Simply creating a baby bottle that was safe just wasn't enough. We went the extra mile to create a bottle that solved many parental complaints. For example, most bottles on the market contain venting systems. Our system is built right into the nipple. So there are no extra pieces to clean or potentially lose.

We then made the nipple No Spill through our cross cut design. This eliminated a large amount of mess that occurs during feeding. It also mimics the way children feed during breastfeeding, as it requires them to apply pressure and nurse to receive fluid.

We also used a little forward thinking and designed the bottles to be convertible into our award winning Sippy Cup. Most parents have between 8 to 16 baby bottles. And when it comes time to move to sippy cup they have to go out and spend a lot of money to acquire them, while also having to toss out all of the old baby bottles which are then destined for landfills. With the conversion kit, parents can simply convert their existing baby bottles into our Sippy Cup which not only saves them money but it also saves the environment from excess waste. Once parents are ready to move on to regular cups, the baby bottles can simply be recycled after use, as they are made from No. 5 plastic.

You may also notice that we do not use clear plastic windows with our products. We have found that these windows are made from PET or PVC. It doesnt make sense to take a safe baby bottle and put it up against something that can off gas onto the product.

How do I care for my Thinkbaby bottle?
Thinkbaby bottles are dishwasher safe (Top Rack recommended). Please take care not to wipe the measurement markings. We do not use lead in our paint, which is what predominately makes paint stick. The US and EU standards actually allow for low levels of lead. We specifically do not want lead in our products.

When washing the baby bottles in the dishwasher, we recommend using a detergent that is free of chlorine. Most of the natural detergents on the market from Eco Lever to Seventh Generation should be free of toxic chemicals. If hand-washing, the American Pediatrics Association suggests using warm soapy water, but only if you live in an area with treated water systems.

Before first use:
We recommend sterilizing the bottles in boiling water for 2 to 5 minutes before first use. We do not recommend utilizing sterilizers, as we cannot guaranty that the ones on the market were made with safe materials. While the baby bottles are technically microwave safe, we strongly suggest that parents do away with the use of microwaves for all items and products destined for your little one.

To prepare the nipple for first use, please squeeze the top of the nipple and the venting tube. You will want to make sure that both open properly. When tightening down the collar of the bottle, do not over tighten, as this will reduce the amount of airflow into the baby bottle.

What type of materials do you use in your baby bottle?
The collar, bottle and top are all made from polypropylene (No. 5. Plastic). The nipple is made from medical grade silicone.

What nipple flow should I use?
Thinkbaby baby bottles come outfitted with Stage A nipples. The nipples are designed for newborns to 6 months. The flow rates are determined by averages. Depending on your little one you may need to adjust which flow rate that you purchase. The chart below should provide help in determining which to purchase.

Childs Age ------ Suggested Flow Rate
0 to 6 months ------ Stage A Nipples
6 to 12 months ------ Stage B Nipples
9 to 36 months ------ Sippy Cup Spouts
18 to 48 months ------ Thinkster straw top

Baby bottle nipples and spouts made from silicone will typically last 2 to 3 months prior to needing replacement. If you notice tears or breakage, discontinue use and replace.

We highly recommend that parents purchase at least 4 nipples per size.

How does the venting system work?
The venting systems work by allowing air to travel back into the baby bottle. Movement of air back into the baby bottle allows the bottles internal pressure to reach equilibrium. This reduces the amount of suction required to get fluid out of the baby bottle. Research shows that having a venting system reduces the incidence of gas and spit up, as children take in less air when drinking when venting systems are present. While most modern baby bottles have some sort of venting system, the advantage to Thinkbaby's system is that it is build right into the baby bottle nipple. So there are no extra parts to deal with and its easy to clean.

How do I convert the Thinkbaby bottle into the Sippy Cup?
One of the great things about the Thinkbaby system is that you can convert the baby bottles into our award winning Sippy Cups. Simply purchase the Thinkbaby Conversion kit from your local retailer or online. To convert, remove the baby bottle nipple and replace with the Sippy Cup spout. Then place the Sippy Cup handles around the top of the baby bottle and push down over the neck of the bottle. Tighten the collar with spout around the neck of the bottle and.presto chango you have our award winning Sippy Cup!!!

How to prevent nipple collapse?

Step 1
With cross cut nipples it is important that you have the right nipple flow for your childs age. The suggested age range is listed above. This is the number one reason for nipple collapse across baby bottle lines. Please note that these numbers are based on averages. If you have an especially fast or slow feeder on your hands, you may need to adjust your movement between flow levels.

Step 2
Do not over tighten the collar, as this will restrict the airflow.

Do you conduct animal testing?
We do not conduct animal testing on any of our products. All of our testing is either chemical testing or biological testing (on cells). We utilize third-party globally certified laboratories to conduct our testing.
